Pets and other domestic animals have been known to save people from many critical situations. With their six senses and quick thinking they saved thousands of lives. Sometimes wild animals also came for the rescue of people and other pets. Some animals are unbelievably brave and risk their own lives to rescue people. In June 2005, a 12-year-old Ethiopian girl was walking home from school when she was abducted by four men. A week after the kidnapping, her captors were attempting to move her, with police in hot pursuit, when three lions chased the men off. The lions remained with the terrified girl until police officers arrived to escort her to safety. She told them that although she had been beaten by her kidnappers – who it is believed had been attempting to sell her into a forced marriage – the lions had not touched her.

Nan Hauser, a whale biologist, was in the middle of her research dive in the Pacific Ocean when a tiger shark approached. The whale kept bumping into her with its head and belly. It attempted carrying her on its head, belly, and back. had never seen a humpback whale act this way. She later realized what was happening after she left the water and returned to her research vessel. There was a 4.6-meter-long (15 ft) tiger shark swimming close to the whale. Obviously, the whale was protecting her from the shark.

Robert Biggs, an experienced mountain hiker, was trekking in the California woods when he noticed a mother bear with her child. Robert stopped for a moment to watch them, but all of a sudden a mountain lion attacked him from behind. The big cat jumped on him from behind, pushing him to the ground. He unsuccessfully tried fighting the lion off until the bear arrived. She pounced on the lion and chased it away into the woods. The hiker came out with minor injuries and everlasting memories.

During one of the worst natural disasters, the tsunami in Thailand in 2004, Amber Owen was there on vacation. One morning she was riding Ning Nong the Elephant. Everything seemed fine, but at some point, the elephant started moving back from the sea. The girl noticed a huge wave approaching. She was shocked and very scared while Ning Nong ran as far away as possible from the deadly sea. He took her to a safe place where she could climb down and reunite with her family.

Khan the Doberman risked his own life to save his owner’s toddler from a snake attack. One day they were both playing in the yard when Khan, who was rescused from the animal shelter just 4 days before the incident, noticed a huge venomous snake. At first, the brave dog tried to push the baby away. But when he realized it wasn’t working, Khan threw little Charlotte one meter away from the deadly snake. The girl was safe, but the poor Doberman was bitten. Luckily, Charlotte’s mom was in the house and immediately called the vet and saved the dog too.

In February 2012, a woman was walking through Oxford, Ohio, when a man dragged her behind a building and tried to choke her with her purse straps. A deer was sleeping in the field that night but was startled when it heard the sounds of the duo struggling. It jumped up and fled the scene. The man was also scared when he heard the sounds of the fleeing deer, so he fled, too, leaving the lady all alone.

On August 28, 2016, Todd Endris was surfing at Marina State Park, California, when he was attacked by a great white shark. The shark came at him three times. The first and second attacks were unsuccessful. But then the shark returned for a third attack. This time, it targeted Todd’s right leg. The shark held Todd’s leg in its jaws and tried tearing it off. Todd fought back, kicking the shark in the head and snout with his left leg until it released him. Then, the dolphins arrived. They surrounded Todd, protecting him from further attacks as he swam back to shore. Some lifeguards and a few of Todd’s friends had witnessed the attack from shore, and they thought he wouldn’t survive. He underwent surgery and returned to surfing six weeks later.

A boy accidentally fell down into the gorilla’s enclosure at Brookfield Zoo. Caring Binti Jua gently carried the child to a safe place to protect him from the other gorillas. The staff took him out of the enclosure, and the boy had no serious injuries.

Willie the Parrot was eating breakfast with his family when suddenly Hanna, his owner’s child, started choking on her food. The mother had just left the room and there was only Willie to help the child. The parrot shouted, “Mama, baby!” really loudly, and Mrs. Howard rushed to the kitchen. The first aid was right on time as the girl was already in critical condition.
